HALS – Healthy Active Learning at School (Room 12)

Today at ten o’clock room 12 did a programme called HALS. “HALS” Is short for “Healthy, Active, Learning at School.” It’s basically a programme where all students participate in friendly, healthy games that help strengthen physicalness, team work, engagement and skills.

Today we played two games. The first one was called “Tails” and the second “Bench.” Tails was a fun game where two equal teams have 1 tag per person. Both teams would try to take the opposing teams tags. The team with the most tags wins. We also played different variations of the game. For example we first started playing full court but then made the space we can play to only half the court. It was really fun. For me it was 8/10.

Bench was a very fun game similar to netball. On to decently far away from each other side there were two people on the benches for each team (2 teams) they were basically the goal for the people not on the benches. Each team would try to pass the ball to people on the benches; and if they did would be on the benches as well. You also could not move with the ball if you were holding it so the only way to advance to you bench was my passing and using teamwork to move forward and win. The first to have all their people or have the most people on their benches would win. It was very fun and for me and personally it was a 10/10

Coordinates . Maths Week One , Term Three : Cartesian Plane . X – Y

This Week Friday 21st 2023 Team – Tui learned how to use the Cartesian – Plane X – Y   :  Axis!

We also reflected on the X – Y Axis . I also learnt that the Cartesian – Plane was Coordinates .

This was a really fun and interesting Task where we were given names of people. We would have to find the coordinates based on the information given to us! Then we reflected on these coordinates!

This was really cool and fascinating.

Cyber – Smart : Quality Comment

This week’s (Extra) Cyber – Smart learning task was about making quality blog comments on other people posts! So here an example of a good quality comment :

Kia ora, I’m (Lance) from … Glen taylor School, I really liked this post because it was really well made. I really like (This) and thought this was interesting! This made me think back to when I (Something) a long time ago!  Have you ever thought of adding a bit of (Something) to it?  It makes it way more fun!

Since this isn’t a specific blog comment I created an example.

How To Create Quality Blog posts! :

(Introduction, School & Name First thing. )

(Positive comment Second thing / A Compliment Towards that post)

(Thoughtful comment Third thing / Something relative to the post)

(Helpful Comment / A tip for the post / Question / Reply )

Term , 3 , 2023 : Cybersmart : Week One !

For Team – Tui Cybersmart we were introduced to “Sumo – Paint – X.”  A digital art site that allows you to draw! We used Sumo Paint – X to draw and simulate a story. This story was about a person seeing a floating ship that made that person levitate . My idea of this story and the way I in – visioned it was that it was an alien space craft that abducts people.

Manaiakalnai Film Festival

On Tuesday the 8th. Glen Taylor School Visited Sylvia Park In Auckland which we went to go watch the Manaiakalnai film festival. The Manaiakalnai Film festival is when multiple schools from Auckland create films to share at the cinemas. They may be inspirational, comedies, helpful, thoughtful and even more. Once finished, schools get to go to the cinemas to watch the movies! And on Tuesday the 8th we went to watch them! I sat with my friends on the seats near the edge. The movies were so funny and interesting. My personal favourite was one called “Pokeblade” created by Panmure Bridge school which was incredibly funny! It was a combination of the Anime series “Pokemon!” and “Bey-blade.”  Another favourite of mine was where my little brother randomly appeared to use his “Big” muscles that other kids that were older than him couldn’t.  After all [school] films were shown, we went back to go Glen Taylor School.

Maths: Multiplying Fractions

This week the class (Room six) has been learning about multiplying fractions. I’ve learnt the method to accumulate the total result (What it equals). It’s been a bit difficult but I can fluently do it with minor mistakes if given time. I have challenged myself to fully comprehend it and learn the basics (Mastered the basics) so I can use it for the future. Fortunately I have actually learnt how it works just struggle to do more advanced questions.  Personally I think if I dedicated three days I could fully understand it. (Multiplying Fractions)

Cyber smart: Empowerment

Today our cyber smart teacher called Mr. Goodwin. He taught us about “Empowerment” which currently Mr. Goodwin used the term to define actually having more power than negative comments or anything sent to us that makes us uncomfortable. We had complected this slide which shows what we can do online. We had to use tics to tic it off.  We also wrote who we could trust to confront to anything negative we didn’t like.

If someone ever those anything negative online make sure to show it to a trusted adult so they can take care of it.

Never reply back to anything negative.
